As I see it, he is being suspended for repeatedly breaking the rules of the school – plain & simply. I’m sure his parents and his church are right behind him in his “persecution”.

This has received lots of comments here in NS. I agree that he is pushing his agenda, but I am not sure a 5 day suspension is warranted. He is in his final year and this will not look good to universities. Wonder how his parents feel ?

We must stop denying the truth that our Popes (hate based) agenda of discriminating against the last group of humans that civil rights have not encompassed into it’s fold is not God’s work. As the entire world learns to erase ignorance and fear of it’s gay brethren and welcome them loudly into the fold of humanity the Pope and Vatican under his intense pressure is vainly trying to stem the world in it’s natural progression towards enlightenment and inclusiveness of all as “God’s children”. This Pope is a relic of the Dark Ages that is exerting every fiber of it’s (the Catholic Church) muscle into holding onto the hate and fear of an unenlightened time and stop humanities progress towards a better world. The coffin the Catholic Church is stuck in today is constantly having the nails driven deeper to ensure that no happy future awaits the Catholic faithful on this earth because it’s leadership has consistently failed it’s flock on every turn since the false promises of Vatican Two were made.

I think this pastor and his accomplices should be charged and jailed! How terrifying…..I guess these teens are supposed to trust in God and go calmly blindfolded into a van at gunpoint.

My family attended Westhill UC way back in 1960′s while I was a student at Emmanuel College (Grad 1967) Spent 9 yrs after ordination in 3x3yr pastorates in Sask. – left ministry after several years of annual depression (at that time due I thought to being a high introvert trying to function as an extrovert) but more recently realizing it was much more due to a major crisis of faith. Am just beginning to become involved “in church” again, after reading Gretta’s first book plus Marcus Borg and other current theologians. Often wonder how many other or similar stories there are out there — Many thanks! Dave Perry

Hi Catherine. Yes; the pool of money used to fund education is raised from taxes of all Christian denominations, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, B’Nai Brith, Atheists, Jains, etc., etc. That is the reason why, IMO, there should be ONE publicly-funded school system, accessible to all.

Catholic Parents are also tax payers. PLEASE DONT FORGET THAT. CATHOLICS ARE TAX PAYERS. OTHER CHRISTIAN DENOMINATIONS ARE ALSO TAX PAYERS.
